The New England Chapter hosted its annual Holiday party at David Martin and Jennifer Leclerc's home in Melrose, just north of Boston, which, as usual, was a great event! In order to keep costs down, we kept the event free of charge, but we asked folks to bring either a dessert or a bottle of wine to share with the rest of the group. The wines were great, and the desserts were outstanding! Of special note were the dark chocolate dipped strawberries brought by Christoph Knoess (MBA '87) and wife Kim (I'm pretty sure Kim made the dessert, although Christophe may have taken some credit!).
As always, it was a great INSEAD event with lively debate about football (soccer) and specifically the 1996 Euro Cup final where Germany beat the Czech republic in the final. Of course we talked about other things, too. Like alumni's start up companies, the state of the economy, and trips to various places around the world. And we opened up our event to several IMD alumni, whom we've had at other INSEAD events.
We have a number of great events coming up in the spring and summer! Look for a monthly bar night hosted by alumni David Crosbie (MBA '90) to be centered in the Somerville/ Cambridge area. Additionally, Laurent Lheritier (MBA '97) will be organizing a life sciences event--a first in Boston in recent memory--which will be one of our biggest and best events this year. We will also have one INSEAD faculty member visiting which we will host an event for, and we will have a family-oriented picnic event in the late summer.
Special note to New England alumni--we were experiencing issues with our broadcast email service and some of you were inadvertently left off of mailings for recent events. Our apologies, we've fixed the problem and look forward to more great events this year and hope you can make them.
One final note, we'd like to ask those of you who have come to events over the past year who have not joined the United States INSEAD alumni association, to please do so. We are an all volunteer staff, but do have a small operating budget to help subsidize events, technical infrastructure, etc. Each membership helps us greatly to deliver more services to the alumni here in New England, and around the US.
Thanks and I hope to see you at our next event in Somerville--details to follow shortly.
